Project Engineer

1.    The ability to troubleshoot, develop, test, and commission Allen Bradley PLC (ControlLogix, PLC-5, and SLC) control system applications using RSLogix.  Recent experience is a must. 
2.    The ability to troubleshoot, develop, test, and commission SCADA (iFix and/or Wonderware) control system applications.  Recent experience is a must.  3.    The ability to read, understand, and modify control system design documents.  This would include diagrams/drawings (P&ID, control system schematics, wiring drawings, pneumatic/hydraulic drawings, etc.) and written design specifications (Functional Specifications, User’s Manual, Sequence of Operations).
4.    Must be aware of cGMP’s procedures and practices and the implication on control system development and modifications. 
5.    Must have good troubleshooting skills. 
6.    Must have an understanding of computer operation and configuration.  

Essential Job Function:  Overnight travel up to 60% (80% including local travel) or as needed to complete responsibilities.  Fulfill technical and field start-up responsibilities for all projects assigned by department supervisor. These include but are not limited to: technical sales support, design and ordering of support systems, review of system documents and drawings (mechanical, controls and validation), customer assistance, start-up of machine systems, training of machine users, preventive maintenance equipment reviews, rebuilds, site engineering evaluations and controls service. 
General Information:  Bachelor of Science in Engineering, or Computer Science. Experience with psychometrics, hydraulics, pneumatics, variable frequency drives, Allen Bradley PLC ladder logic and basic welding and metalworking.  Familiarity with industry standards such as NFPA, NEC, and NEMA.  Experience developing and interpreting control system drawings including P&ID’s, control system schematics, control panel layout drawings, and pneumatic and electrical interconnect diagrams.  Knowledge of and experience in Microsoft Windows operating systems, Microsoft Office applications, and Microsoft Access and/or SQL Server.  Confined space entry training maybe required for potential entry into confined spaces within Glatt supplied equipment.  Must possess a valid driver’s license. 

This position is classified as a “safety sensitive” position and is subject to random drug testing.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
1.            On site engineering services including machine and controls FAT’s (checkout), commissioning, and troubleshooting of new equipment, retrofit and automation systems at customer and subcontractor sites throughout the US, Canada, and Puerto Rico.
2.            Conduct/supervise field installation of mechanical and controls new or retrofit equipment, or prepare instructional installation documents to clients and project teams.
3.            Act as main liaison to customer when in field to keep updates on project status, time overruns, or repair issues.
4.            Work with and update Project Managers on all aspects of the assigned projects during entire project phase.
5.            Provide labor summary forms and expense reports to Project Manager for all assigned start ups.
6.            Spearhead mechanical warranty issues for field work through the assigned Project Manager.
7.            Document all activities through the execution of checklists, protocols, drawing markups, or written trip reports as required.
8.            Demonstrate scheduling and travel flexibility in ability to respond to assigned field service request from customer base in timeframe required, from immediate to long term.
9.            Provide engineering services in the field and within GAT.  Duties including:
·         Rebuilds of electro-mechanical devices included on Glatt equipment or supplied sub-systems.
·         Troubleshooting of all mechanical and controls issues as reported by customers.
·         Must have good troubleshooting skills. 
·         Preventative maintenance reviews.
·         Safety evaluations.
·         Field calibration (applies specifically to individuals trained)
10.          Assist Project Managers in sourcing, evaluating, and quoting new components and technologies for use in Glatt equipment and systems.
11.          Provide feedback and design suggestions to the Process Automation department as appropriate.
12.          Provide technical support to Glatt customers “in house” in the form of telephone assistance and follow-up. Track and continually monitor issues ensuring issue is properly addressed and resolved.
13.          Maintain working knowledge of all PAD software and hardware systems; stay abreast of current industry practices.
14.          Present at all times a professional and highly competent image to Glatt staff members and clients of the Glatt Group so as to instill confidence, respect, and desire to perform in a team environment.
15.          Develop, maintain and demonstrate to customers and Glatt staff a positive, proactive sense of urgency in meeting project deadlines, objectives and customer needs.
16.          Support the Validation Department as required.
17.          Keep up to date on current trends in mechanical and controls technology.
18.          Professional growth through societies and management approved training seminars.
19.          Keep supervisor informed of progress on a routine basis.
20.          Maintain an orderly workplace.
21.          Must be willing and be capable to climb ladders and to enter restrictive spaces.
22.          Other duties as assigned by management.
