There is no single field which covers such a variety of technologies
as product handling: Manual, semi-automatic or fully automatic,
vertical or horizontal product flow, containers or big bags, total
containment, cleaning, control integration. The list goes on ...
The enormous diversity involved makes it all the more important
that all the pieces of the puzzle fit perfectly into place. Which
makes Glatt the obvious choice.
Complex production overview
Optimized handling systems
The equipment used to handle pharmaceutical solids is the all-important
logistical and process technology link connecting individual process
steps such as weighing, granulation, blending and tableting on the
one hand and auxiliary processes such as homogenization and cleaning
on the other.
The type of product flow, the degree of automation and the containment
level are instrumental in determining how any complete plant or
installation is planned.
While weigh-in of active substances is generally performed manually
in a weighing cabin, the base carrier materials and additives are
usually measured and added in containers on automatic weighing trucks.
In addition, sieving and milling techniques are used to separate
out or reduce the size of agglomerates in order to obtain a homogenous
grain structure for the subsequent production process.
Even distribution of the formulation components is ensured by dry
blending using container blenders. The equipment can be cleaned
either manually or in fully automatic washing systems.

Outstanding system safety
Alongside the product flow itself, factors such as preparation,
administration and reliable data transport are playing an ever more
focal role in terms of reproduction accuracy and process safety.

Status data can be assigned to the relevant batch
in the form of a hard copy document, as barcode information
or stored on electronic data carriers.

As each system is linked to the process host computer, a
second copy of all the status data is stored here and compared
to the target parameters.
