FDA‘s Initiative and update on PAT Projects can
be described as a revolutionary paradigma change concerning
the ”Pharmaceutical cGMPs for the 21st century”.
A fluidised bed is formed when solid core particles
are suspended in an upward-moving air stream and the
powder bed hereby in many ways exhibits liquid-like
behaviour.
In 2004 Glatt Weimar did start up another pharmaceutical
factory in Tver, Russia, for the manufacture of infusions,
ordered by the Moscow based company "Gematek”.
With the beginning of this year a new material
management chapter has been started at the Glatt
Technology Centre at Binzen in cooperation with
the software company WERUM AG from Lüneburg,
entirely replacing the previous system.
Fluidized bed techniques are widely used in all
fields of industry. The range of application includes
both heat and mass transfer processes (for instance
cooling, and drying) and complex multi-phase processes
like agglomeration, spray granulation and coating.
