New office and laboratory wings
at Glatt Weimar
In the end of 2009 the inauguration of new buildings at Glatt Weimar took place to satisfy the demand of the steadily-growing company. To minimize emissions to the environment, great care was taken that modern building techniques were implemented: rooms are heated and cooled by temperature-controlled concrete ceilings, additional radiators and split-system air conditioners for peak heating/cooling loads. Hot water is produced by solar energy and exhaust heat from the compressor station. The ventilation system is used exclusively for the regular hygienic change of air, so that no windows have to be opened. Nevertheless, fresh air is provided by the system, meaning that no air needs to be recirculated. All necessary equipment is designed to recuperate heat.
Hence, Glatt’s engineering know-how is not only a benefit to the planning and construction of turn-key factories, but also to the health and well-being of our own staff. The office building has been chosen for an open day in architecture as an example for sustainable good design combined with advanced building services.
