Lisbon Symposium April 2010

In April, Glatt, Evonik and the University of Lisbon conducted a symposium on multiparticle dosage forms, which was attended by more than 80 participants. Almost all of them came from the Portuguese pharmaceutical industry, but there also were a few participants from Poland and Serbia. The symposium was split in two sections: In the afternoon of the first day speakers from the above referred affiliations lectured on pelletizing techniques, pellet coating and compression of pellets into tablets and in the morning of the second day the laboratory staff from Glatt and Evonik demonstrated a bottom spray coating process and the production of matrix granules. People staying the evening of the first night in Lisbon were invited for dinner in a downtown hotel sponsored by Evonik and Glatt.

Prof. João Pinto from the local faculty of pharmaceutical technology stated during the closing ceremony of the event, that hopefully there will be more joint symposia between industrial
companies and university faculties as this should be the best way for a better mutual understanding of industrial processing and relevant academic research.
