To celebrate the 25th anniversary, the family of the employees and some colleagues from the various Glatt sites were invited. The day was to be something special and memorable for the guests. That’s why there was not only something to see – people could also get active and make something themselves.
In the welcoming speeches, it became clear that the 350-strong workforce of GIT has every reason to be proud: “Today, GIT is a modern company,” said Dr. Reinhard Böber. “Plants from Weimar can be found all over the world – in Europe from Norway to Italy, as well as in South Africa, the USA or in Asia.”
Careful and comprehensive planning in advance of a cleanroom project is essential, regardless of whether the project is a conversion or a new build. Before the start of any cleanroom assembly, i.e. pharmaceutical interior construction, all structural measures must be as completely finished as possible. This means that the shell should be finished and the construction site completely clean. This is the only way to ensure that no particles from the surfaces of the building structure are carried over into the cleanroom to be built.
Drug formulation is a fine art and a matter for specialists. Even though many pharmaceutical companies like to take the path of least resistance when launching a drug on the market and, for the sake of simplicity, press the active ingredient into a tablet with a few excipients. But at the latest when the topic of life cycle management comes up, good advice is expensive, and that’s when Glatt Pharmaceuticals comes into play.

Glatt’s cleanroom wash station is designed as a fully welded version and is made of high-quality stainless steel. Implemented completely without silicone joints, which would have to be replaced regularly in continuous operation, the element offers complete freedom from maintenance.
As a system integrator, Glatt was already involved in the concept phase for the process, the process logistics, the process automation and its integration into higher-level systems and has itself helped to update the planning for this during the various subsequent project phases.
For originator manufacturers, drug development is about big money. Faster development, faster to market, longer to benefit from patent protection – that’s the motto. Why a lot depends on a systematic approach and what role scale-up plays in this.
